Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the team reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Planners groups.
Fans can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
